Introduction

Conflict Diamonds are stones which are mined under duress, by men, women and children who are forced into service by rebels. Once these diamonds are produced, they are sold to raise funds for weapons and activities that oppose internationally recognized governments. The miners of these gems receive no benefits, but must endure horrible experiences.

At ValentinMagro.com we ensure that every diamond we sell is lawfully obtained and certified as conflict free. We make sure to work only with respected suppliers who abide by the Kimberley Process (KP.) ValentinMagro.com also makes sure to follow the laws that require diamond sellers in the United States to honor the Kimberley Process, or face consequences from the US Justice Department.

About the Kimberley Process

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) started in 2000 in Kimberley, South Africa during a discussion on how to discourage trade in conflict diamonds. Later that year the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to support an international plan to stop the buying and selling of illicit stones. By 2002 International negotiations between governments, diamond firms and non-governmental organizations outlined requirements for controlling rough diamond production and trade, creating the KPCS. By 2003, participating countries began to implement these guidelines within their borders. Diamonds traveling under the Kimberley Process are shipped in secure boxes, accompanied with tamper resistant KP certificate ensuring the gemstones’ provenance. KP approved stones are only permitted to head to other KP participating countries. Those that do not follow these rules are prevented from entering lawful trade. To further ensure authorized dealing, auditing systems track where the diamonds are produced, sold and shipped to; a stone is followed from its point of origins to its delivery.

Valentin Magro Conflict Free Diamond Policy

Our Aim at ValentinMagro.com is to adhere to the laws and regulations that make sure our customers receive only conflict free diamonds. Our suppliers follow the Kimberley Process, and we never deal with unauthorized sources of trade. Should we ever find out our suppliers did not follow the Kimberley Process, we would end our relationship with them fully and immediately. ValentinMagro.com understands that our customers wish to know the origins of the pieces that form their jewelry. We will continue to work hard to uphold the diamond industry to high standards, and patronize suppliers who do the same.
