Shine Your Diamonds like New at Home

This is the easiest of the DIY projects so far known to DIYers. Though it may not seem very easy by the sound of it, shining up your diamonds is actually the simplest of things. It requires little labor and almost no tricks. You just need to spare 10 minutes of your time and a little of your attentiveness with that, and consider the job done. Cleaning up your diamonds is a thing that you must do a day before attending an event, an hour before heading out on a date night, and even on weekends when you have nowhere to be. Diamond ornaments need cleaning very often. Weekly cleaning assures the longevity of the shine and glimmer of the stones. Here is how you do it at home:

Bezel set diamond bandSoak Them Up in a Hot Soapy Bath
Not unlike yourself, your diamonds enjoy a warm bubble bath every once in a while. So, treat them to the indulgence at least once a week if not more. Prepare the bath with nothing but lukewarm water and a very mild soap. For that, you can use a baby soap or a few drops of your mildest shampoo. Make sure that the concoction doesn’t get strong. Resist using chemicals generously to the solution. Just a couple of drops will do just fine. Soak them in it for about 10 minutes prior to cleaning.

Give Them a Little Rub and Scrub
For the cleaning, you will need a baby toothbrush. Infants’ toothbrushes have soft bristles that cannot hurt the surface of the diamonds. You may think diamonds to be the hardest gemstone, but they are quick to pick up scratches too. So, you don’t want to rub or scrub too hard. Spend more time brushing out dirt from underneath the ornaments then scouring the outside.

Shake Off the Water and Towel-Dry Them
After you have rinsed them well under running water, take out each piece, one at a time and shake off the excess water. Do not swing your arm too hard or weaken your clasp to avoid risks of flinging them away. Once the water is shed off, put them in the folds of a clean towel and gently pat them dry. You can wipe the stones a little as long as the towel is soft and clean. Diamonds look as good as new every time you wash them.
